Umrah Fund

The “Umrah Fund” was established in 2012 with an extraordinary donation by Ahmed Khattak ’09.  The purpose is to fundraise to sponsor and offer Yale Muslim undergraduates the extraordinary opportunity to participate in the  ICNYU Umrah Trip.  Yale’s own “Director for Muslim Life,” Imam Omer Bajwa, co-leads this transformative trip during Yale’s Spring Break.

Since 2012, we have had dozens of Yale participants on this exceptional Umrah trip, and they have shared their life-changing experiences with our community upon returning!  All of this has been possible with the generous support of donors, which has been truly humbling and has inspired us to continue fundraising to sponsor more Yale Muslim students.  Please help contribute to this noteworthy endeavor by donating generously to the “Yale Umrah Fund.”
All donations are tax-deductible!

For every dollar that you donate, you will receive a share of the rewards of the sponsored student!

As Allah says in the Quran: ”Those who spend their wealth in Allah’s cause are like grains of corn that produce seven ears, each bearing a hundred grains.  Allah gives multiple increase to whoever He wishes: He is limitless and All-Knowing.” (2:261)

“Allah said: ‘Spend (on charity), O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.” [Bukhari]

The Yale MSA is blessed to be in a position to support Muslim life on campus in such a salient way; we are constantly humbled and amazed by the support of our community.  Through these efforts, we hope that someone who might not otherwise be able to perform Umrah will be able to make the journey of a lifetime!

If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments, please feel free to contact Imam Bajwa at omer.bajwa@yale.edu.  Also, please check out the ICNYU Umrah website for more details about this amazing trip which is open to everyone!
